ALKAR Potamissi 2024

The vintage

The 2024 vintage is characterized by a harvest of very high quality. The quantity, however, was significantly reduced, with yields down by approximately 30–40%. The winter was mild, with unusually high temperatures for the season. The most significant rainfall occurred between September and January, totaling 260 mm. Wind intensity during the vegetative cycle remained within normal levels and did not cause any damage.

The limited rainfall from the previous year, combined with very high temperatures at the end of June, led to a reduction in crop load per vine. As a result, the vines produced fewer clusters, which developed optimally and were of excellent quality. The harvest was of high quality, with no damage from Lobesia botrana (grape berry moth). For the variety Potamisi Lefko (White), harvest began on August 25. The resulting musts were aromatic, with a full mouthfeel and moderate to high acidity levels.
